A family trip can be no less exciting than the farthest trip. But at the same time your costs will be tens of times less.
What are the advantages of a family trip? Firstly
, while traveling, parents always communicate with children, but in everyday life this communication is not enough. Both adults and children open to each other from a new perspective, and this brings them together.
Secondly, children learn to overcome difficulties, magically get rid of whims and laziness. After all, it is clear that in the rain it is necessary to make shelter, and not to cry, because from crying the rain will not end. In addition, they see a direct connection between their actions and results: they did not dry their shoes - rubbed their legs, did not light a fire - there is nothing to eat
ThirdlyBoth adults and children are imbued with the very nature that surrounds them. In the absence of cars, houses and other achievements of civilization, they learn to see the beauty of the forest or mountains, enjoy the sun, feel the flow of the river, enjoy the smells of berries, flowers, grass. And finally, the trip creates a common page in family history, where each member of the family, regardless of age, plays a role. What is needed to make the trip successful? “DO” offers you its training plan.
We develop a route and daily routine
Before talking about the route, understand the duration of the trip, focusing on the age of the youngest child in your company (by the way, it is better to go on a trip in a group of 8-11 people, of which 3-4 children). On average, children 4–6 years old can withstand no more than 7 days, and 6–10-year-olds can master a 10–14-day trip. The most convenient type of route for hiking with children is the so-called basic route with radial exits. You choose a parking lot and arrange a base camp, from where you make sorties. In this case, it is important to know in advance that the place of the base camp is not very crowded, that there is water and firewood nearby and that the settlement is located within walking distance (so that in case of illness you can find a doctor). And in the surroundings, it is necessary to outline in advance the places that I would like to see. But, if you want to go from “point A to point B”, then you are planning a linear route. Best with the “half day” mode: you go the first half of the day, then choose a parking place and rest for the second half of the day. Kids can sleep, and then - games, picking berries and mushrooms
We collect things
You need to start compiling a list of things with a decision on how the “cast” will take place, that is, how you will get to the start of the route or to the base camp. If you use a car, you don’t have to worry about the weight of your backpacks. In other cases, when you have to overcome on foot even a few kilometers, remember that the weight of an adult backpack should not exceed 30 kg. Here is a sample list of what you might need on a hike (for a family of 2 adults and 2 children of different ages for a 10-day summer hike in central Russia):
Equipment: tent, tent (cover the tent from the rain), a fire wire and hooks for hanging bowlers, matches, first aid kit, camping utensils (2-3 bowler, ladle, cutting board, plates, spoons, forks, knives, cups, can opener), tarpaulin mittens, 4 tourist rugs, sleeping bags, maps, compass, flashlight, rope, water tanks, ax, camera, phones and portable chargers for mobile phones.
• For every adult: raincoat, rubber boots, sweater, spare walking clothes and sleepwear, light interchangeable shoes (sneakers).
• For each child: a warm woolen clothing set (sweater, pants, socks, hat), a waterproof suit (jacket, pants, rubber boots), spare trousers and walking shirts, a knitted set for sleeping.
Hygiene products: soap, towels, wet wipes, mosquito repellent cream.
We collect products
Thinking over the campaign menu, you will have to take on a calculator - because you need to provide calorie content, variety, nutritional value with a minimum weight of products. Remember this:
• For each adult, there must be less than 2,200 kilocalories per day (in long trips - at least 2,900).
• The most suitable combination of proteins, fats and carbohydrates is 1: 1: 5.
• The weight of dry products should not exceed 700-750 g per person.
• The layout (the so-called fully compiled list of products with a menu for every day) should include 3-4 options for lunch and dinner, which you will alternate. If several families go on a hike, it makes sense to distribute the duties in advance, arrange a menu and offer each family to buy, pack and carry products only on their duty.
A safe hike means proven parking places, a well-planned route, the ability to contact a nearby medical institution and the presence of someone with a tourist experience in the group. As for the children, their safety should be considered separately:
• The child’s clothes should be bright, noticeable (better than orange, red, yellow) - if he gets lost, it will be easier for you to look for him.
• Saws, axes, knives (even small ones) must be stored in cases and constantly be under the control of adults.
• If you are boating on the river, during the movement the children must be wearing life vests (the volume of the vest in liters must be at least 20% of the person’s weight in kilograms).
• Keep children busy in the parking lot. As practice shows, they go out of boredom in search of adventure, and this is fraught with trouble.
Experienced tourists advise:
Approximate diet for one adult for one meal plan:
• buckwheat, rice, millet - 80 g
• semolina - 50-60 g
• pasta - 90−100 g
• milk powder - 20−25 g
• smoked sausage - 40 g
• lard - 30 g
• cheese - 30 g
• butter - 20 g
• meat (stew) - 50−70 g
• dry soup - 40 g
• sugar - 30 g
• crackers - 30 g
By the way, in order to make a list of products, you can use the special program Outdoor Food Ration Calculation, which can be downloaded on the Internet for free. The program itself considers the necessary amount of proteins, fats, carbohydrates and based on the selected dishes gives out lists of products.
If this is the first time you are going on a hike, the group must have at least one person who has already visited these places and knows the route and the places of possible parking. At conferences of tourists on the Internet you can find many proven routes and reviews on trips:
